Saturday night at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Grand Avenue, MOCA mounted the first major retrospective exhibition in the United States of Martin Kippenberger's complex body of work. It's a very ambitious collection ranging from paintings, sculpture, works on paper, installations, posters and books. Kippenberger's life was inextricably linked to the culture of his time, beginning in the mid-1970's to his untimely death in 1997. I'm going to go back for another look!
