Akira Kurosawa

The Academy launched its three-month celebration of master filmmaker Akira Kurosawa with an evening highlighting a dynamic new exhibition as well as the digital restoration of Kurosawa's early masterpiece, Rashomon (1950). The film's innovative approach cemented Kurosawa's international reputation as a significant creative force. Hosted by film critic, Kenneth Turan, for the opening panel discussion, the feature presentation was welcomed by the sold-out house of Kurosawa fans.
